WHAT IS THE POINT OF THE UPGRADING?
Each of the four variants of the iPhone 13 is an improvement over the previous-generation device from 2020. Longer run times and more space for storage. We advise against purchasing an upgraded iPhone if you already own an iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, or iPhone 12 Pro Max.
That’s correct for anyone who owns an iPhone 11 or 11 Pro. Stick with what you have unless you really like the boxier iPhone 12 or 13, have a lot of extra cash, and need 5G. For those willing to spend $799, Wired gives the iPhone 13 an 8/10 recommendation. The dual camera setup on the back of the phone uses sensor-shift stabilisation to improve the quality of photos and videos shot in low light. Apple’s new Cinematic mode brings Portrait mode to video, and a larger image sensor means better low-light photos.

WIRED suggests the iPhone 13 Pro (which costs $999). The differences between the iPhone 13 Pro and the 13 Pro Max are purely cosmetic. Furthermore, there is a telephoto zoom camera. All of these cameras offer Apple’s Night mode for improved low-light images and Apple’s ProRes video format for greater editing options. In order to record 4K ProRes, a phone with at least 256GB of storage space is require. Otherwise, you’re limit to 1080p resolution. Additionally to its wide-angle capabilities, the ultra-wide camera is also capable of taking detailed macro shots. The 120 Hz refresh rate of the 6.1-inch OLED screen creates an impression of seamless motion. New hues include gold, sierra blue, graphite, and silver.
The phablet-sized iPhone that costs $1,099 is here. The iPhone XS Max’s 6.7-inch screen and longer battery life than its predecessor earn it an 8/10 rating and a recommendation from WIRED. Smartphone addicts only, please. The same capabilities as the more compact Pro. A full day’s worth of use is possible with the larger battery, which is more than what you can say with the 13 Pro.
